Service Projects for Single Mothers
1. Computer Skills
Single mothers from Semarak Kasih Single Mothers Association were given
basic computer training in hardware and software. They were taught word, excel
and powerpoint programmes. The trainer was Ms Savita, spouse of PP Nagesh from
RC USJ.
2. Motivation & Microfinance
Single mothers from various Associations and individuals were exposed to basic
financial planning and microfinance. Our club's PP Susan spoke on financial
literacy while En Azhar from Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia shared on Microfinance for
Urban Population.
Spouse Programmes
Spouses of members get to meet and learn new things. These events help to bring
them closer plus share laughter and happy times.

Vocational Visits
1. Wine maker Rem Corporation Sdn Bhd
Our club learnt a lot about making wine from juice concentrate. The wine maker
Rem Corporation is based in Kajang. Besides grapes, they produce wine from
fruits such as dragon fruit. The owner, PP Donald Chen is from RC Kajang.
2. Gaharu Tea Farm, Gopeng, Perak, Fruit Farm, Taiping Charcoal
Factory
Making a trip up north, our club members visited 3 interesting places. We
enjoyed the company of our buddy club members in Ipoh as well as tried the
unique gaharu tea, pomeloes, rambutans and durians. We were joined by an IYE
student from Germany.
International Service
1. Transport service vehicle for Holy Family Centre for Mentally Handicapped,
Taiwan
This is a matching grant project with our sister club Yuan Lin Central in
Taiwan. District 3300 contributed funds and our club also topped up via
PHFs to The Rotary Foundation. The vehicle was launched on Jan 1, 2012 in
Taiwan.
2. Donation to flood victims in Thailand
Club members, associates and friends passed the hat around to help flood
victims in Thailand. We sent RM4,000 via our sister club in Trang.
RC Cheras 15th Anniversary
Celebration - Shanghai Night
Our club and RC Metro KL organised a joint club anniversary celebration on
October 22, 2011. The theme was Shanghai Night where men, women and children
came dressed in Chinese traditional attire. Besides the good food, a karoake
contest was held. The event was made extra special with the presence of pioneer
leaders who helped set up the club.
Club Members Wedding Anniversary & Birthday Celebrations - International Flavours
Starting with Korean food in September, we progressed to Thai food (Oct),
Vietnamese food (Nov) and Taiwanese food (Dec) to celebrate the birthdays of
members, spouses as well as wedding anniversaries. The different foods
plus fun and laughter made memorable moments.
