Joy and fun to the senior citizens at King George V Silver Jubilee Home by providing them 20 ceiling fans. Interactors from SM Bandar Tun Razak Cheras entertained them jointly with us.

A Clean Environment "gotong-royong" project was launched by YB Dr Lee Chong Meng, MP for residents at the Fahlee Flats, behind the Pudu market, to create environmental awareness with mosquito fogging, distribution of garage bags, and pamphlets. This project won the Environmental Achievement Award during Rotary District Environment Day.

Health & Nutrition project to the Orang Aslis in Pulau Carey. This was carried out in conjunction with the visit of our sister club, Rotary Club of Yuan Lin Central. Taiwan.
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

Handed over the four shelter homes to the Orang Aslis in Pulau Carey. This meaningful humanitarian project was presented The District Best International Service award.

Sister club hosted an International Fellowship for us in Taiwan where we witnessed another matching grant project in the supply of medical equipment to Erling Happy Home, Taiwan.

During the earthquake in Taiwan, our club members donated US$2,500 as humanitarian aid to the victims via our sister club, Rotary Club of Yuan Lin Central.

Two matching grant projects worth US$9,000 for the HIV/AIDS Hospice Centre and the supply of Nutrition To The Hospice Patients. This matching grant project was matched with a District in India and our sister club, Rotary Club of Yuan Lin Central, Taiwan, in association with the Malaysian AIDS Council.

- Weekly meeting was moved from Wenworth Hotel to Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Club and changed to a dinner meeting. Open Forum to encouraged Rotarians to voice themselves during the last meeting of the month. Bowling was introduced to strengthen fellowship.
- Weekly English-Chinese bi-lingual weekly bulletin received the District Best Bulletin Award.
- A Caring Cheras Community Carnival held at the Cheras Badminton.

Oxygen equipment and special hospital beds worth US$6,000 were presented to The Faith Centre KL (a caring centre for HIV/AIDS inmates) to cater for their emergency needs.

RC Cheras signed a second sister club agreement with Rotary Club Trang, Thailand. More than 20 Rotarians and their spouses visited Rotary Club of Trang for an international fellowship and donated 10 bicycles to the needy school children in Trang, Thailand.

In partnership with Sungai Wang Management, raised more than RM10,000 through a charity sale to raise funds for The Rotary Foundation to Eradicate Polio.

Charter President, YB Dato Dr Lim Thuang Seng launched a Caring Community project that brought together orphans from 3 different homes for funs and games. At the same time, under the Eyes Protection project, the orphans were treated with eye test and those with vision problems were given spectacles.

Participated in the District's matching grant project in giving away luminous safety vests to motor-cyclist to promote Road Safety.

In an effort to assist mobility of to handicapped, our club presented one unit 3-wheeler motor cycle to the Beautiful Gate Handicapped Center.

Hosted 2 inter-city fellowships with sister club, Rotary Club of Trang, Thailand, to enhance on commitment on matching grant projects in the future and to bring the 2 clubs closer to together.

- Rtn Stone Wong was inducted as the centennial Rotarian.
- Hosted Pre-Pets II for District 3300 that received compliments from the District.
- Promoted Family in Rotary to bring spouses and Rotarian children together with cruise outing to Pulau Batam and Chinese New Year gathering.
- Invited by Rotary Club of Pudu to participate in bowling fellowship with their sister club from Singapore at Sunway Bowling Center.

- An Educational Visit to Carlsberg Brewery in Shah Alam, Selangor.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
- Eye Protection to provide free eye test to more than 500 less fortunate students at Sunbeam Home, SRJK Chin Woo, SMK Bandar Tun Razak, and SRJK Chung Wen together with Focus Point to provide free glasses to 150 students.
- In conjunction with the 100 Hours Marathon Service to mark Rotary’s 100 years celebration, we carried out literacy project for the blind and contributed 48 sets of pre-recorded cassettes and players to the children of Malaysia Association of the Blind.
- Family of Rotarians joined the children of Sunbeam Home to celebrate Mooncake festival to bring warmth to the less fortunate children.
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE
- For the first time, both sister clubs, RC Trang, Thailand, and RC Yuan Lin Central, Taiwan, were brought together for fellowship at our installation dinner.
- Matching grant project to provide Oxygen Equipment to Trang Public Hospital, Thailand.
- Matching Grant project to provide safety railing for handicapped homes in Yuan Lin, Taiwan.
- Appointed leader for Tsunami projects in Thailand for District 3300 where we provided 400 water containers to resolve drinking water problems to all the residents in Muk Island, Thailand.

PE Simon and 4 of his club officers attended the District Assembly held in Seremban from 19 to 20 April 2008.

Thanks to our dedicated PP Johson Pang for his multiple roles as SAA, Treasurer and Bulletin Chairman.

Our Past Presidents' Membership Taskforce initiated a "Guest Cocktail" event during the 2nd meeting of April, May and June for promoting Rotary awareness and membership drive. For maximum effectiveness, the following week's meetings were converted as "Guest Day" with interesting speakers.

We inducted Rotarian Lum and Su May in February 2008. Net increase of 10% from 19 to 21 members.

Spouses of Rotarians have been regularly attending our dinner meeting and guest day function since October 2007.
-
Since moving to Bankers club in October 2007, we have attracted many visiting Rotarions and potential members who are very happy with conducive meeting environment and fellowship after the weekly meetings.

Thanks to all members who participated in ours 3-months Membership Initiative program which was awarded a District Recognition Award.

Our Club contributed RM15,000 to the victims of the earthquake in China via Sin Chew Jit Poh's fund raising centre.

Club contribution of US$100 to Polioplus.

A total of 14 Rotarians and spouses including new Rotarian Rtn Su May and Rtn Lum visited our sister club RC Trang, Haadyau, Thailand to attend their 25th Installation event on 29th June, 2008.
VOCATIONAL SERVICE

Produced for distribution 200 Rotary 4-Way Test car sunscreens to promote the Rotary 4-Way Test and also club membership.

Carried out Vocational Excellent Award presentation to 2 police officers for their excellent service to the public in Sri Petaling, KL.

Our club sponsored 6 Interactors from Tsun Jin High School to attend the ILTS organized by RC Pudu in March 2008.

Membership Growth
We formally welcomed 2 new members and 1 ex-Rotarian re-joined our club. Total membership is 21.
Attendance
Average attendance for RY2008/2009 was only 52%. We inspire to find a better solutions to improve our attendance.
Club Major Project - Library And Computer Project for Sunbeam Home
Thanks to PP Yok Kee and his committee for successfully carrying out a library and computer project in March 2009 for the Sunbeams Home children. The entire project costing approx. RM75,000 (US$21,500) was the biggest project in Ringgit since our club inception. This project was made possible with a Matching Grant from The Rotary Foundation with contribution and support from our Taiwan sister club, Rotary Club of Yuan Lin Central.
District Conference in Ipoh
President Simon and 4 other Rotarians attended the 74th District Conference from January 2 to 4, with new Rotarians Su May and Lum being their 1st time.
District Assembly in Kuantan
7 Rotarians attended the 75th District Assembly from April 17 to 19, 2009.
R.I. Presidential Citation Achievement
Through the teamwork and commitment of all members, our club achieved the Presidential Citation to "Make Dreams Real" based on the four Avenues of Service and membership growth.
District Award for Best Club Web Page (club with less than 25 members)
To Rtn Su May, our club webmaster, my deepest gratitude for her fine work and tireless effort in designing and maintaning our club website which was awarded " The Best Club Web Page" (for club with membership less than 25).

RC Cheras also received yet another award for achieving membership growth from below 20 to more than 20 members.
District Award for Runner-up in Best Community Service Project
RC Cheras was awarded the District Runners-ip for Best Community Service Project Award. Special thanks to PP Susan Tu for coordinating with the funding and launching of this project in Ipoh with PP Jacky Chan. This project was jointly organized and launched with our buddy club, RC Metro Ipoh on June 1, 2009. A total of 25 single mothers from the Perak Single Mothers Association were trained in computer literacy over 4 weekends in Ipoh. This project was made possible with a grant from the Crocodile Foundation and District 3300.
District Certificates of Appreciation to The Rotary Foundation
RC Cheras also received 2 Certificate of Appreciation for our contribution to The Rotary Foundation via a contribution of US$1,000 for the Polio Plus fund towards the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Challenge; while the other is for the 100% per capita EREY contribution.
